IPL 2021 auction – 10 Most Awaited Auction Results:  The IPL Auctions are as lucrative and enticing to the fans as much as the game itself. The IPL Auctions of 2021 are just a few days away from here on and all the franchises will have their permutations and combinations in place by now. With all the buzz of the upcoming auctions looming around us, we roll-out the 10 most anticipated players who are expected to light up the show on Feb 18th in Chennai and whose auction results will be most awaited.

1) Dawid Malan (1.5 Cr Base Price)

The southpaw batsman hailing from England, has been in the form of his life in the shorter format of the game. He is currently dwelling at the top of the ICC Player Rankings for T20 Batsmen. He came to the fore initially as a low order batsman and eventually evolved as a top order batsman. In the 19 innings he has featured in so far, he has amassed 855 runs with a healthy average of 53.44.

2) Steve Smith (2 Cr Base Price)

The axed Aussie captain, Steve Smith will surely be the elephant in the room on the auction day as the franchises will be looking to rope him for his experience and stellar show at the international forum over the years. His international performances speak for him. In the 95 IPL matches he has played so far, he has gleaned 2333 runs. Alongside his batting skills, he markets himself as a leader also.

3) Glen Maxwell (2 Cr Base Price)

Another Aussie who can increase the bills of the franchises is Glenn Maxwell. With a dismal show at the UAE in IPL 2020, Kings XI Punjab has given him the pink slip. Maxwell’s past few IPL’s have been forgettable but every time he shows up in the auctions, he manages to catch the eyeballs of the spenders for himself, such a brand he has created for himself. With a potent show against the Indians in the recently concluded series of ODI’s and T20’s, it is expected that his name will once again ignite the room.

4) Shakib Al Hasan (2 Cr Base Price)

The Bangladeshi All-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, has remained an integral part of whichever team he plays for. He made his comeback recently against the ongoing series against West Indies after serving a ban of 1 year from ICC for not reporting a corrupt approach during the IPL 2019. Touted as one of the best all-rounders of all time, he provides the necessary balance in the middle order as he can bowl 3-4 overs and score quick fire runs down the order. Shakib has 749 runs and 59 wickets in 63 IPL matches so far.

5) Mohammed Azharuddeen (20 Lacs Base Price)

The young right handed batsman from Kerala earned a name for himself in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy where he smashed a 37-ball ton. He went on to score 137 runs in mere 54 balls against Mumbai, hitting nine fours and 11 sixes. It was the third-fastest T20 century by an Indian after Rishabh Pant (32 balls) and Rohit Sharma (35 balls). This innings could prove to be a vital curve in his career this auctions.

6) Arjun Tendulkar (20 Lacs Base Price)

The 21-year-old Arjun Tendulkar, son of Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, who played for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy earlier this year. He is still a naïve prospect in the game of cricket but has shown promise of talent at the junior level. Eyes will be on the young man when his name pops-up for the bid at a base price of 20 lakhs rupees.

7) Marnus Labuschagne (1 Cr Base Price)

The next talk of the town in the streets of Australia after Steve Smith is the consistent Marnus Labuschagne. In a short span of his career he has proved his mettle and looked as if he owns the international arena. Yet to make his debut in IPL and international T20’s, this can surely be his auctions where he could reap the benefits of his prolonged consistency in the longer format of the game.

8) Cheteshwar Pujara (50 Lacs Base Price)

Going by the name of modern-wall, Pujara in his recent interview said “Definitely want to be part of the IPL. Given an opportunity, I am confident I’ll be able to do well.” Previously, Pujara has played 30 IPL matches, but his last outing was back in 2014, after which he has repeatedly gone unsold. He last donned the jersey of Kings XI Punjab.

9) Kyle Mayers (50 Lacs Base Price)

Kyle Mayers, coming from the Caribbean Islands, made the headlines recently only after scoring a double hundred against Bangladesh in his debut match in a winning cause. Although, he doesn’t have much stats to back him but with his record breaking innings, he is expected to grab the attention from a few tables this auction.

10) Sandeep Lamichhance (40 Lacs Base Price)

The only Nepalese player to step into the biggest league of cricket, had been with the Delhi Capitals since 2018. This time the young leg spinner will try his luck at the auctions. In the 9 matches he has played so far, he managed to scalp 13 wickets with an impressive average of 22.46. He will be another young player who is anticipated to earn millions this time.
