IPL 2021: Australian stars David Warner, Marcus Stoinis touch down in UAE ahead of Phase 2 – The IPL is all set to kick off in over a week as teams have already started their preparations for the tournament. Foreign stars have started to arrive in the UAE with Australian players also arriving onto the scene with just nine days left. After Glenn Maxwell landed in the UAE yesterday, Australian duo David Warner and Marcus Stoinis joining up their franchises shortly.
David Warner took to Instagram on Friday to announce his arrival in the UAE as he joins up with the IPL 2021 Phase 2. The Australian opener bid an emotional farewell to his family as they spent the lockdown together in Sydeney. Warner had opted out of Australia’s tour to the West Indies and Bangladesh to spend time with his family, as he prepares for along summer with the IPL 2021, T20 World Cup and the Ashes to follow.
Warner shared a series of images on his social media, as he left for the UAE, where he arrived alongside Marcus Stoinis. The left-hander will now team up with the Sunrisers Hyderabad and will look to turn a corner from his performances in Phase 1. Warner was sacked as captain and subsequently dropped from the team as Sunrisers languished at the bottom of the points table in IPL 2021. The Australian southpaw has been a consistent performer for the Sunrisers over the years, and his return to form will be crucial as they make an outside push for a playoff spot.
Marcus Stoinis himself will be itching t get going as he teams up with the Delhi Capitals. The all-rounder was one of their star performers in the UAE last year but offered only sporadic returns with both bat and ball in Phase 1. Capitals begin their season at the top of the IPL 2021 points table and will look to solidify their spot in the playoffs.
