IPL 2021: BCCI worried, ‘more players and supports staff members likely to test positive’

“Hussey was in practice sessions even 2-3 days before being pronounced positive yesterday. He was seen mingling with everyone. I myself saw him chatting with Du Plessis & Raina for 15-20 Mins. He spent time with few others as well”, said one of the CSK squad member.

Same are the worries for other IPL franchises whose players got infected. Be it Varun Chakravarthy or Sandeep Warrier from KKR or Amit Mishra from Delhi Capitals. All of these players mingled around with their colleagues before being tested Covid-19 positive.

One of the member of Sunrisers Hyderabad squad told InsideSport that Wriddhiman Saha was in isolation for last 3-4 days. But before that he was openly meeting and spending time with the team members.

Saha was in isolation for last 3-4 days. As soon as he showed some symptoms, he was isolated from rest of the team – but before that he met almost each and every member of the team, this is the reason team members panicked on Monday and were not ready to play against MI”, informed a senior support staff member of Sunrisers Hyderabad.

IPL 2021: How was strict IPL Bio-Bubble breached?

No one has an exact & 100% correct answer to this. Multiple theories are doing the rounds. Was it at some Airport, was it via some infected ground-staff member – no one knows the real reason of how IPL 2021 Bio-Bubble got breached.

As Varun Chakravarthy was the 1st to test positive – most of the fingers are being pointed towards his hospital trip to Apollo in Ahmedabad. Varun was taken to hospital last week. Some of the KKR team members say ‘he complained of abdominal pain and was taken to hospital for the same’.

Most feel KKR lead spinner got infected in hospital and later spent time with Sandeep Warrier who then got infected. As Varun was isolated by KKR medical team when he complained of little uneasiness – Warrier kept his practice schedules on.

During one of the KKR practice session that overlapped with Delhi Capitals – Warrier met Amit Mishra and passed the infection to him.

But all of this contact tracing is just a theory – no one knows how and where exactly IPL BIO-BUBBLE was breached.

What everyone knows is – IPL 2021 is postponed and few other members of IPL BIO-BUBBLE are expected to test positive in coming days.
