IPL 2021 Phase 2: Blow for Rajasthan Royals, ECB confirms Jofra Archer ruled out with injury for the year: Rajasthan Royals have suffered a massive jolt ahead of the resumption of the second leg of IPL 2021 as their bowling mainstay- Jofra Archer is sure to miss even the Phase 2 of the tournament. ECB has confirmed that the recurrence of a stress fracture of his right elbow in the latest scans held last week has ruled him out of all cricket commitments for the rest of the year. Archer also missed Phase 1 of the cash-rich league due to the injury.
Archer, who was expected to make comeback in England cricket team in the 3rd Test against India will not just miss the series against India but also would be unavailable for the Ashes scheduled in December this year. This means that with his injury he has been ruled out of IPL 2021 Phase 2 and even the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.
IPL 2021 Phase 2: The lanky pacer was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his right elbow while on a tour of South Africa in 2020.
The right arm English pacer who was operated on to remove a bone fragment from his elbow in May returned to play last month. However, soon after his return with the ball, he became mindful of increasing uneasiness in his elbow during matches for Sussex in the Vitality Blast and a 50-over friendly against Oxfordshire. The operation is not related to the stress fracture that sidelined the player previously.
IPL 2021 Phase 2: As per ECB official reports, the 26-year-old will now spend time on an extended break from cricket before returning for a medical review in early autumn.
IPL 2021 Phase 2: Jofra Archer was the go-to-man for Rajasthan Royals in the 2020 season held in UAE. In the 14 matches he played for the pink brigade, Archer scalped 20 wickets in the season and returned with an economy of 6.55.
