IPL 2021, CSK training camp: With less than three weeks left for the Indian Premier League (IPL), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is all set to shift their training base to Mumbai. CSK CEO said its time to shift the base and get used to the conditions before the season begins. “We will definitely shift now. We are scheduled to leave for Mumbai by March 26,” CSK CEO told InsideSport.

The MS Dhoni-led side was the first team to begin preparations for the upcoming season. Chennai had started its camp at MA Chidambaram Stadium on March 9. Dhoni, Ambati Rayudu and uncapped players like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Narayan Jagadeeshan were amongst the first to join the camp. However, their star batter Suresh Raina is yet to join the team.

Giving an update on the former Indian batsman’s availability, Vishwanathan said he will join the team directly in Mumbai. “We will be living at the Trident Hotel. He will join us directly in Mumbai on 26th,” he said.

Raina had delayed his joining twice. While it was due to some ‘personal reasons’ for the first time, he postponed it for the second time due to his son Rio’s birthday.

The 34-year-old, however, has been working hard in the gym and has been actively posting his training videos across social media platforms. In his last training video shared on Twitter, he wrote: “The last session before joining the team! All geared up for IPL. Can’t wait!

After joining the team at Trident Hotel, he will have to undergo seven-day quarantine, as per the BCCI COVID-19 SOPs.

IPL 2021: Dhoni introduces new training methods

Chennai will play Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 10 at Wankhede Stadium. Dhoni, who is possibly playing his last IPL before hanging boots, is doing everything he can do to grab the shiny trophy for the fourth time. He has even introduced a new training method to help the youngsters adapt to the quickly changing situations of IPL.

CSK’s rising star Ruturaj Gaikwad in an interview with CSK TV revealed that Dhoni has introduced ‘match simulations’ which is helping the team handle pressure and adjust to different situations.
