IPL 2021: Former RCB allrounder Stuart Binny announces retirement from all forms of cricket- Former RCB and India allrounder Stuart Binny has announced retirement from all forms of cricket, as per reports. “I would like to inform you that I have decided to retire from first-class and international cricket,” he said in a letter shared on social media.

“It has given me tremendous joy and pride to have represented my country at the highest international level. I would like to acknowledge the huge role that the BCCI has played in my cricketing journey. Their faith and support over the years have been incredible. My cricketing journey would not even have started had it not been for the Karnataka state and their support. It has been an honour to captain and win trophies with my state,” it added.

He had made his Karnataka debut in the 2003/04 season. He was picked for India’s ODI team for the tour of New Zealand in 2014. He played his first ODI during that tour. On June 17, 2014, Binny scalped six wickets conceding only four runs surpassing Anil Kumble to have the best bowling record for any Indian bowler. He made his Test debut against England in the tour of England 2014 and he then made his T20I debut for India against Zimbabwe in 2015.

 

Stuart Binny has represented India in six Tests, 14 ODIs, and three T20I matches from 2014 to 2016. He has taken 24 international wickets across formats and amassed 459 runs. He also holds the record for the best ODI figures among India with 6/4 against Bangladesh.

“I would like to wish Stuart Binny all the very best for his future endeavours. He has had a long career. First-Class cricket is the base for a good international set up and Stuart has had an immense contribution in that. His contribution for the Karnataka State Cricket Association, which has produced so many players of repute, will be written in golden letters. I wish him all the success in his life,” BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said.

He has played for as many as three franchises in the Indian Premier League- Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, and Mumbai Indians. Overall, he has played 95 fixtures where he managed 22 wickets and scored 880 runs.

Stuart Binny could take up administrative or commentary roles in the second innings of his cricket career.

“The game of cricket runs through my blood, and I will always back to give back to the game that has given me everything,” the letter stated.
