IPL 2021: Great news for Sunrisers Hyderabad, David Warner returns with a bang- Sunrisers Hyderabad fans could breathe a sigh of relief as their skipper David Warner returned from injury with a bang, scoring 87 for New South Wales in the Marsh Cup against South Australia on Thursday.

Warner, who returned from a groin injury after three months, quickly switched to beast mode, hitting 13 fours and one six en route to his 87 off 74 balls in Adelaide. His innings helped NSW beat South Australia by six wickets.

The Aussie opener put his IPL 2021 participation in doubt after announcing that he had rushed to play the Test series against India in January. After missing the first two Tests, Warner returned to the squad for the third and fourth Tests, scoring 5, 12, 1 and 48 in his next four test innings. That set him back a bit.

“It put me back a little bit,” Warner told Cricket.com.au. “Looking back in hindsight, I probably wouldn’t have done that.”

While he said that the recovery could take longer, it seems that Warner is successfully going through the rehabilitation process and has managed to regain his form ahead of the IPL 2021 that will begin in April. “I’ve had this time to heal and obviously with South Africa being called off, it gave me a bit more time to get that strength work done, let’s see how it goes,” he said then.

His recovery and return to the crease is good news for SRH, who rely heavily on the left-hander’s runs at the top. Warner scored 548 runs in 16 matches with an average of 39.14. He has been IPL’s most consistent batsman, scoring at an average of 42.71.

Warner will be key to SRH’s IPL 2021 fortunes both as a captain and an opening batsman. The entire SRH team composition revolves around David Warner and they will be keenly looking at the fitness of their captain in the Australian Domestic competitions.
