IPL 2021: "Jab They Met", Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers go crazy meeting after 5 months - Watch Video

IPL 2021: The two main pillars of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) batting, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers met for the first time after a long six-month gap and completing their respective mandatory 7-day quarantine. It was a photo shoot that brought them together before the duo takes the field in IPL 2021.

When the two legends meet, it is always a fest for fans and the photoshoot wasn’t any different. The duo asked each other about their well-being and family. It showed why Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have been the most successful duo for Royal Challengers Bangalore. The on-field camaraderie that they have was on display during the photoshoot as it soon turned out to be a funny affair. They were seen later joined by two other teammates Washington Sundar and new recruit, Glenn Maxwell, who RCB bought for a whopping Rs 14.25 crore.

RCB later took to Twitter and shared some snippets of the photoshoot video, in a tweet captioned, “Bold Diaries: Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers Photoshoot When two of the biggest superstars come out of quarantine, they mean business! Schedule for today: Photoshoot, Ad shoots and then some proper cricket practice at Chepauk. #PlayBold #WeAreChallengers #IPL2021.”

Virat Kohli-AB de Villiers will be crucial for RCB in IPL 2021:

While Devdutt Padikkal was phenomenal last season, RCB’s scoring duty has been on Kohli and de Villiers. That they have scored over 10,000 runs combined for RCB in the IPL is a testament of what to expect from the duo. Kohli and de Villiers also hold the two IPL records in partnerships. For the second wicket, they put together a 229-run stand against now-defunct Gujarat Lions in IPL 2016. They also have the second-highest partnership record in the IPL with an unbeaten 215 runs stand against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2015.

Last season, Kohli was RCB’s second-highest scorer with 466 runs while de Villiers was third with 454 runs from 15 matches. Youngster Devdutt Padikkal was the top scorer with 473 runs from 15 games.

However, despite their rich scores, RCB are yet to win the IPL title. They came close last season but failed to get past the playoff stage in the UAE. This time, with the addition of Maxwell, RCB will hope to cross the hurdle and win their maiden IPL title. When they face Mumbai Indians in the opening match of the IPL 2021 on April 9 in Chennai, RCB will hope to get the momentum.
