IPL 2021: Kumar Sangakkara picks three uncapped Indian players who impressed him the most – The IPL 2021 has been suspended due to the rising cases of COVID-19 and breach of bio-bubble created for the IPL. In IPL 2021’s first phase 29 matches were played and many youngsters made their mark in these games. Rajasthan Royals (RR), Team Director Kumar Sangakkara has picked his top three uncapped Indian players who impressed him the most.

Chetan Sakariya

Legendary Sri Lanka batsman Sangakkara’s first pick was RR speedster Chetan Sakariya. Chetan played his maiden IPL season this year. The left-arm pacer picked seven wickets in seven games. Royals’ had bought the 23-year-old for INR 1.2 crore in the auction. 

“Chetan [Sakariya] was a revelation, his attitude, his ability to deal with pressure, and of course, his kill,” he said.

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Sangakkara picked Yashasvi Jaiswal as the second uncapped Indian players who impressed him the most. The left-hand batsman Jaiswal was playing his second IPL and was asked to open the batting along with Jos Buttler. Yashasvi shared a 66-run stand with Buttler and gave his side the much needed sturdy start against Mumbai Indians (MI).

Anuj Rawat 

Anuj Rawat could only play one match in IPL 2021 which was against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), where he did not get to bat. However, Sangakkara was impressed with his energy and skills on the field.

“We had Anuj [Rawat] and Yash [Jaiswal], the two youngsters who have been with the franchise for a very, very long time. And I was thoroughly impressed by all three of them. They actually got a reasonable amount of time in the middle. Unfortunately, in the match that Anuj came into [the side against SRH], he didn’t get a chance to bat but was outstanding with his energy and skill in the field,” Sangakkara said.
