IPL 2021: MI vs CSK becomes most watched mid-season IPL game in history- The lockdown imposed in many states of India became a reason behind a big boost for IPL in terms of TV viewership as the league breaks another record. The game between Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians and MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings is as always one of the much-awaited games in IPL 2021. According to BARC, the MI vs CSK game in IPL 2021 was the most watched mid-season game of the tournament, and the most watched match of IPL-14.
The game was played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on May 1 which was a Saturday. The match saw over 400 runs scored by both the teams combined. Chasing a mammoth total of over 200 Mumbai Indians Keiron Pollard’s magnificent 34-ball unbeaten 87 helped Rohit’s side beat CSK by four wickets.
According to TOI’s source in Disney-Star, “With 11.2 billion minutes, the MI-CSK game became the most-watched IPL mid-season match ever (in BARC history). This match also became the most-watched match of season 14. This is in addition to IPL 2021 surpassing the overall reach to 367 million versus 357 million in 2020. The growth in numbers is a testament to the faithful fan following that IPL enjoys and the continuous effort by Star and Disney to innovate and grow the league each year.”
A midseason match means all the matches except the season opener and the final of the edition.
