IPL 2021 Mid-season Transfer: Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore are the two most worst-hit franchises, losing a chunk of foreign players owing to injury or the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

RR has already lost 4 of their 8 foreign players to injuries and Covid-19.  Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer had to pull out due to injuries, while Liam Livingstone and Andrew Tye pulled out due to Covid-19 related issues.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on the other hand announced that their two Australian players Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson will be leaving the bio-bubble to return home due to the Covid-19 surge in India.

The Sanju Samson led team at this stage is left with only four foreign players – Jos Buttler, Chris Morris, David Miller and Mustafizur Rahman – and is in urgent need of some reinforcements and will look to have some players in IPL 2021 Mid-season transfer.

The other franchise which is likely to get very active on IPL Trade Window will be Royal Challengers Bangalore after losing two Aussies.

Robin Uthappa (Chennai Super Kings to Rajasthan Royals)

The Rajasthan Royals franchise has already made a request to the Chennai Super Kings to get the services of Robin Uthappa. The Royals are in a mess after top overseas stars Andrew Tye and Liam Livingstone left them due to ‘bubble fatigue’. With the side in trouble, they would certainly look at Uthappa.

Rajasthan Royals on the other hand need an opener very badly. There wouldn’t be a better option available at the moment who can provide the much-needed impetus to the RR batting lineup.

Ishan Porel (Punjab Kings to Rajasthan Royals)

The Bengal pacer was picked by the Punjab Kings in 2020 at his base price of INR 20 lakhs. The Punjab Kings pacer could not make his debut for the franchise last season. And with Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Shami there, it is highly unlikely he would get a chance this year. Porel, however, could add value to the Rajasthan Royals’ side. An option that can be contemplated.

IPL 2021: List of all the players who have pulled out of IPL 14

Lockie Ferguson (Kolkata Knight Riders to Royal Challengers Bangalore)
If RCB can indeed secure Ferguson’s services, he would be a like-to-like replacement of Kane Richardson.

Lockie Ferguson is one of the quickest bowlers in the world right now. He can deceive the best of the batsman with sheer pace. He has been in great touch for New Zealand as of late.

Lockie did well for the KKR last season. In the first game that he played for the franchise in IPL 2020, he went on to take 3 important wickets and also won the man of the match award. Unluckily, he’s not been able to find a place in the team this season.

Jason Roy (Sunrisers Hyderabad to Rajasthan Royals)

Jason Roy was bought by SRH for IPL 2021 as a replacement for Mitchell Marsh and hasn’t featured in the playing XI yet.

However, with the likes of Bairstow and Williamson already there, Roy wouldn’t be able to break into the team considering the limitation of foreign players in the team.

Rajasthan Royals on the other hand is in dire need to increase their batting depth and is currently facing serious lack of firepower in the batting department.
