IPL 2021 – Mumbai Indians vs Punjab Kings: Mumbai Indians’ Kieron Pollard and Punjab Kings’ Chris Gayle sit at the helm whenever there is a discussion of the best hard-hitters in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The battle for the best hitter’ in the shortest format of the game is intensified after Pollard hit sixes in an over for West Indies against Sri Lanka last week. The 33-year-old has now thrown a challenge for the Universe Boss for the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Both players were retained by their respective IPL franchises and will certainly be part of the core group. Punjab Kings, who will start their campaign on April 12 in Mumbai against Rajasthan Royals, will play Mumbai Indians on April 23 in Chennai.
The Punjab franchise on its Twitter handle posted a picture of Pollard and Gayle in which the former threw a ‘6 sixes in an over challenge’ to the latter. “I am looking forward to Gayle equalling the record of hitting six sixes in an over,” the quote on the picture read.
PBKS accepted the challenge on behalf of Gayle and wrote: “.@, how about a six-hitting competition on 23rd April, eh?”
If Gayle manages to hit six sixes, he will be the first to do so in the Indian Premier League. The Universe holds the record for hitting most maximums in IPL.
The 41-year-old has hit 349 sixes in 132 matches. He is also at the helm of the highest individual score list. Gayle had scored 175 runs in 66 balls against Pune Warriors in 2013, hitting 17 sixes and 13 fours at a strike rate of 265.15.
Meanwhile, Pollard is sixth in the most maximums list with 198 sixes in 164 games. Mumbai will begin its IPL 2021 campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 9 in Chennai.
