Krunal Pandya has tested positive following the Rapid Antigen Tests conducted on July 27. Following the development, the remaining two T20Is were rescheduled and India played with bench strength as eight close contacts were quarantined.
The Indian team returned to India following their T20 series defeat against Sri Lanka. India were thrashed 2-1 by an inexperienced Sri Lankan team.
Meanwhile, Krunal Pandya will aim to make a comeback to cricket with IPL 2021 phase 2 starting from September 19. Kunal had a below-average IPL 2021 phase 1 where he could only score 100 runs in seven games and took three wickets. This is the second consecutive season for Krunal where he failed to impress as in the IPL 2020 he scored 109 runs in 16 matches for Mumbai Indians. He also failed to make an impact with the ball as he could only take 6 wickets. It will be interesting to see how he performs in phase 2.
