IPL 2021 phase 2: Mustafizur Rahman feels good performance in IPL’s UAE leg will boost his confidence going into T20 World Cup – Bangladesh’s premier pacer Mustafizur Rahman, Who recently received clearance from Bangladesh Cricket Board to play in BCCI’s IPL 2021 phase 2 which is scheduled to start on September 19 in UAE, feels that good performance in IPL will boost his confidence ahead of T20 World Cup. Both IPL 2021 phase 2 and ICC T20 World Cup will take place in UAE later this year.

Talking to Cricbuzz, Rahman said,” Naturally (I am confident) for the upcoming series against New Zealand, IPL and ICC T20 World Cup because I am in a good rhythm now and hope to carry on with it. What I feel is that playing in the IPL helps to perform at the international level because you are playing against the best there and I feel that if you can do well there (IPL) than international cricket, it becomes much easier.”

IPL’s UAE leg: Mustafizur Rahman will be playing for Rajasthan Royals in the cash-rich league. He has played seven games in the first phase where he picked up eight wickets. RR acquired Mustafizur’s services after bringing him on the board for INR 1 Cr. The left-arm pacer from Bangladesh has thus far played four IPL seasons and has 32 IPL wickets to his name and he will be looking to add a few more wickets to his tally as RR look to clinch the IPL 2021 title.

“World’s best players compete in this tournament and if you are successful, certainly it will raise your confidence. And I am sure that will be the case with me because if I do well in IPL then certainly I will be carrying loads of confidence going into the World Cup,” he said.

Earlier on Tuesday, The ICC announced the fixtures for the marquee tournament on Tuesday, 17 August. The tournament will begin with the Round 1 Group B encounter between hosts Oman and Papua New Guinea at 2pm local time on 17 October, with Scotland and Bangladesh, the other teams in Group B, clashing in the evening match at 6pm.

Ireland, Netherlands, Sri Lanka and Namibia – making up Group A – will be in action in Abu Dhabi the next day, with Round 1 matches running till 22 October. The top two teams in each group will proceed to the Super12 stage of the tournament, beginning on 23 October.
