IPL 2021 – PBKS vs RR Arshdeep Singh: Starting his career as a “new-ball bowler” and impressing one and all with his pace and control in ICC U-19 World Cup 2018, Punjab Kings Arshdeep Singh has been one of the youngsters to watch out for as a “death-over” bowler in the last two season of IPL, with his execution of yorkers towards the end of the innings drawing praises from the fans and pundits alike.

“I had reasonably good IPL seasons in the last 2 years. Punjab Kings is a team which gives a lot of opportunity to youngsters. So I am not worrying about getting a chance in playing XI. I know my role in the team. I am not thinking too much about bowling faster or targetting anyone. There is only one target that is to do well for the team,” he noted.

Arshdeep, who was called up for Kings XI Punjab’s trials in 2019 after his good show in CK Naidu Trophy and Vijay Hazare tournament, proved his credentials as a death bowler which also tempted the franchise to rope him ahead of the IPL 2019 season at a base price of Rs 2,000,000. In his debut match against Rajasthan Royals in his home ground at Mohali, Arshdeep became the talk of the town after scalping the wickets of Jos Buttler and Ajinkya Rahane.

IPL 2021 – PBKS vs RR Arshdeep Singh: Is Covid-19 situation in Mumbai worry for Punjab Kings?

Fully-focussed Arshdeep is not worried at all about camping and playing IPL matches in Mumbai which has once again emerged as Covid hotspot in the second wave of the pandemic in the country,
“I have no time worrying about the growing Covid cases in the country and Mumbai in particular as these things are beyond my control. We are in a biosecure bubble so it really doesn’t matter for us how many cases are outside this bubble. The fact remains that if we do not breach the bubble then we are safe. We are all following the necessary guidelines and protocols. The team management is taking care of it so I need not worry. I am just focussing on my bowling. I am just waiting & preparing myself for the action on the field. I want to give my 100 per cent on and off the field for Punjab Kings,” Arshdeep Singh told Insidesport.co in an exclusive interview over the phone on Sunday night.
Elaborating on the guidelines and Covid protocols that he & his team have been following, Arshdeep said there were not any major changes that he saw and were required even after the second wave of covid cases in Mumbai.
“See, we are all in a strict bubble from the beginning. In fact, it’s not difficult at all. I have been in 3 bio bubbles since IPL 2020 in September last year. This year, we had Syed Mushtaq Ali & Vijay Hazare tournament in domestic cricket. There has not been any problem or hiccups so far. We enter into a bubble and then re-enter into another. The process of the bubble to bubble transfer has been smooth,” the left-arm pacer from Punjab observed.
