IPL 2021 RCB’s KS Bharat: Wicketkeeper-batsman K S Bharat was a stand-by player for Team India for the just concluded 4 match Test series against England. Though he did not get to feature in the playing XI for India, sharing the dressing room and practising alongside the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant has given him enough “knowledge, confidence and experience” switching him into a “fully charged & switched on” mode and he is willing to take up any role and play at any position including an opener’s slot for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in this edition of the IPL starting next month.

“Sharing the dressing room and practising alongside the Indian team was a great experience. I have learnt a lot seeing the likes of Virat bhai, Rohit Bhai, Ajinkya and Rishabh. You need to have a supreme skill set, extremely high intent and a Lionheart to be playing for India. I am not worried about being in the playing XI. I am ready and willing to invest my time and prepare myself well to get into the side one day. Now my focus is to do well for my state Andhra in domestic cricket and RCB in the IPL. I had a very good Mushtaq Ali tournament where I played well as an opener. So I am ready to play any role including that of an opener,” K S Bharat told InsideSport.co in an exclusive interview on Tuesday.

When asked to elaborate on what he meant by “any role”, Bharat said: “See my strike rate has been above 140 In Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament this season and I have tried all kinds of shots and innovations which are needed for the IPL format. So if team management thinks, I can play as an opener alongside Devdutt Padikkal who had a wonderful IPL last year. He is in supreme form and has hit four consecutive centuries in the ongoing Vijay Hazare tournament. I can play second fiddle to him if required. I can also play as a pinch hitter or batting down the order to finish off the game. RCB team management can try me in any position. I have improved my keeping as well so I am really looking forward to this season of IPL”
