IPL 2021 – SRH vs KKR: Rahul Tripathi completes 1,000 runs in IPL, goes past Kevin Pietersen’s tally – Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Rahul Tripathi has completed 1,000 runs in the Indian Premier League. He achieved the feat while playing against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in KKR’s opening match of IPL 2021. He has also gone past Kevin Pietersen who scored 1,001 runs in the Indian Premier League.

In the match, Tripathi returned to form while playing at No.3. He completed his fifty off 28 balls which included 5 fours and a couple of sixes. He fell prey to T Natarajan for 53 in the 16th over.

“The surface was holding a little bit. Their spinners were bowling well. I think the surface is a little tricky because the oddball is turning and sometimes skidding. I think we’ve got a great total. That was the role given to me today, just go out and express myself. Good length areas, use the wicket a lot, some cutters and I think we’ll be able to defend it,” Tripathi told host broadcaster Star Sports.

“If you get in the right areas then it was difficult to score. Whatever loose ball we got we were looking to utilise the most. It’s our first game let’s see (about the dew). Even if the dew comes we’ve got a great total,” he added.

Rahul Tripathi achieved the feat in his 46th IPL match. He is the 74th batsman in IPL to complete the landmark of 1,00 runs. Known for his swashbuckling batsman, Rahul Tripathi has 5 fifties to his name in the IPL.
