IPL 2021: SRH’s captain David Warner signs with Southern Brave in The Hundred

IPL 2021: Sunrisers Hyderabad’s skipper David Warner confirmed his participation in The Hundred after he signed a deal with Southern Brave. The Australian who has been recuperating from a groin injury gunned a deal of $A1,77,832 (Rs 1 crore approx). He is one of the biggest earners in the broadband of cricket across the globe, and with his new signing in The Hundred League, he will be earning a whopping sum of $2.5m per year which includes his IPL income of Rs.12.5 crore. The slapdash southpaw was supposed to play for the Southampton based club in last year’s inaugural edition but pulled out, citing “family and personal reasons.”

The Hundred, is England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB), brainchild tournament of 100 balls, which will finally take off its inaugural edition in July 2021 after being annulled in 2020 due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Initially, the franchises retained the majority of their squad and with fill the other incumbencies in the virtual draft slated to take place Feb 23rd. With the ongoing Hundred Draft, there were few staggering deals signed with the stars.

Australia vice-captain and Sydney Thunder star Rachael Haynes was drafted and will captain the Oval Invincible, joining Alyssa Healy, Nicola Carey, Sophie Molineux, Annabel Sutherland, Jess Jonassen, Meg Lanning and Beth Mooney in the competition.

Jhye Richardson, who might still be recovering from the wave of IPL Auctions of 2021 after bagging an eye-watering deal of Rs.14 crore with the Punjab Kings, is having a dream run in terms of pay-checks as he finds himself in yet another sumptuous price tag. He has been roped in by Welsh Fire for a sum of $A1,40,000 which is around Rs.80 lakhs in Indian rupees.

The Australian speedster is having a tightly stacked schedule for the upcoming months and he will keen to prove his worth on the field. He’ll join a large contingent of Australians in Wales, who snapped up Meg Lanning, Beth Mooney and Jess Jonassen on the women’s side of the draft.

Meanwhile, Alyssa Healy and Nicola Carey, the other prominent Australian women cricketers were picked by the Northern Superchargers, where they will join their fellow Aussie mates, Aaron Finch and Chris Lynn.
