IPL 2021 Auction – The 14th season of the cash-rich league IPL will be played in April this year. Ahead of the tournament, a mini-IPL auction will take place in Chennai on February 18 to buy released players by all the eight franchises of the Indian Premier League. Key players like Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Chris Morris and Dale Steyn will be up for grabs. Kings XI Punjab (SRH) has the highest salary cap (Rs 53.2 crore) available ahead of the bidding. It will be interesting to see who manages to get the maximum bid in the mini-auction. Over the years several big players like MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have attracted huge salaries. Today, we will look at those top players who are still the most paid player post-retirement:
Total IPL Salary – 94.62 crore
The former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper has earned Rs 94.62 crore in eleven seasons of the IPL. His highest salary cap was Rs 12.5 crore for four consecutive years (2014-2017), paid by KKR. The left-handed batsman has led KKR to glory in 2012 and 2014. He retired from the T20 league in 2018 after failing to impress with the bat in the first six matches.
Total IPL Salary – 84.6 crore
Another big name in the list includes the former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh. The Indian batting legend has won two IPL trophies (with SRH and MI). In 2015, he was bought for a staggering amount of Rs 16 crore by SRH. The World Cup champ has played for as many as six teams in the IPL for twelve seasons. He announced retirement in 2019. His total salary in IPL stands at Rs 84.6 crore.
Total IPL Salary – 77 crore
The former Australia all-rounder played a key role in IPL teams’ success: Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. He attracted the highest bid of Rs 12.5 crore by Rajasthan Royals in 2014-15. He has also played for RCB for a couple of seasons where he was bought for Rs 9.5 crore. Watson announced his retirement in 2020. He went on to earn over Rs 77 crore in 13 IPL seasons.
