Harshal Patel 5/27 vs MI

RCB found their star of the season in the very first match of IPL 2021 when Harshal Patel took a five-fer against MI. Patel also became the first bowler to take five wickets against MI in the 14-year history of IPL cricket. Patel returned with staggering figures of 5 for 27 as RCB restricted MI to 159 for nine after opting to field first in Chennai. He took the wickets of Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya and Marco Jansen. The right-arm pacer took as many as 3 wickets in the last over, restricting Mumbai Indians to 159/9 in 20 overs.

Glenn Maxwell catch of Shivam Dube vs RR

Glenn Maxwell became one of the most dangerous weapons in RCB’s arsenal ever since he was bought by the franchise. The destructive batsman has scored runs for them, bowled a few overs and produced some magical effort on the field as well. In the match against RR in an attempt to go over the top of mid-wicket, Shivam Dube miscalculated the length of a Kane Richardson slower one and stepped on his back foot to slog the ball. Maxwell dived forward to take a sharp catch and dismissed Dube, who was dismayed with his shot.

Devdutt Paddikal vs RR (101* runs 52 balls)

Devdutt Paddikal hits the first century of his IPL career in IPL 2021. Paddikal was the emerging player of IPL 2020 as he smashed over 400 runs last season. However, his strike rate was a thing of concern for team mangement. This year the southpaw turned the table upside down by hitting a century at a strike rate of 194.23. In the game against Rajasthan Royals, he helped RCB chase down a competitive target of 177 in just 16.3 overs. With this century he becomes the only second batsman to hit a century in IPL 2021.

AB de Villers vs KKR (76* runs 34 balls)

It is almost impossible to make a list and not name AB de Villers in it. It was an afternoon game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders when ABD came on to crease RCB were at 3-95. Everyone was suggesting that it will be a great match if RCB manage to get around 180 as the Chennai pitch was supporting spinners. But AB had other plans, batting alongside Glenn Maxwell AB helped RCB reach 204. Batting with a strike rate of 223.52, the South African talisman smashed nine fours and three sixes. The innings took the game away from KKR and eventually RCB won the clash.

Virat Kohli dedicates fifty to Vamika

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper achieved yet another milestone in the Indian Premier League with his 72-run knock against Rajasthan Royals in their fourth game of the season. Virat became the only player in the history of IPL to have touched the 6000 run mark in the cash-rich league. The fifty was a special one for Virat and so was the celebration after it. Kohli dedicated his glorious knock to his newly born daughter Vamika. After completing his fifty, Virat looked right up at the pavilion towards his wife Bollywood star Anushka Sharma made the hand gesture of holding a baby in the arms after which he blew kisses towards her. This gesture by Virat won the hearts of many cricket fans.
