Jos Buttler hit the highest score in IPL 2021

Jos Buttler slammed his first T20 century while playing against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. He completed the milestone in 56 balls. In his innings, he struck 11 fours and 8 sixes as SRH bowlers were hammered all around the park. Buttler took on the bowlers from ball 1 after opening RR’s innings. He smashed 124 runs to overtake Sanju Samson. The latter had smashed 119 runs during his ton against Punjab Kings earlier in IPL 2021.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s stunning catch of Sunil Narine

Yashasvi Jaiswal played his first match of the IPL 2021 for Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Jaiswal was included in the final XI as a replacement for the out-of-form Manan Vohra. Batting under pressure, West Indies batsman Sunil Narine misjudged a slower one as Jaydev Unadkat rolled his fingers over the ball just in time. Stationed at backward square leg, Jaiswal who had earlier dropped Gill at the same spot didn’t make any mistake this time as he ran forward to take the catch and dived to pull off a stunner. The young southpaw proved his worth by showing his class on the field.

Chris Morris 4/23 vs KKR

RR brought Chris Morris on board for a whopping sum of INR 16.25 Cr, making him the most expensive player bought in the tournament history and the South African all-rounder did not disappoint. In the match against KKR, Morris did not let any Kolkata batsman get going by taking a four-wicket haul. Morris dismissed Dinesh Karthik, Andre Russell, Pat Cummins and Shivam Mavi in his spell. RR team mangement must be delighted with Morris’ form as they have spent so much for him.

Sanju Samson 119 vs PBKS

Rajasthan Royal’s newly appointed captain Sanju Samson was the first batsman to hit a century in IPL 2021. While chasing a huge total set by Punjab Kings, Samson led from the front but failed to help his side cross the line. The wicketkeeper-batsman scored 119 runs off 63 balls, including 12 fours and seven sixes. Samson has hit as many as three centuries in IPL history.

Arrival of Chetan Sakariya

Rajasthan Royals is known for their talent hunting and Chetan Sakariya is one example of it. The pacer from Saurashtra was looking to make his maiden IPL a memorable one after being bought by RR for INR 1.20 Cr during the player auction ahead of the IPL 2021. The left-arm pacer picked seven wickets in seven games with a strike rate of 23.14 and an average of 31.71. His economy in IPL 2021 was 8.22. These stats certainly do not justify Sakariya’s perfomance in IPL 2021. He has bowled beautifully in the death as well as in the powerplay overs. At times he was just unlucky not to get any wicket. Riding on impressive performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy Chetan delivered for RR in IPL 2021.
