IPL 2021: Two DDCA staff arrested for entry to Arun Jaitley Stadium with fake ID proofs- Delhi Police has arrested at least two DDCA officials for entering Arun Jaitley Stadium with fake ID proofs during an IPL 2021 match in May. The two were caught during the IPL 2021 match between Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 2.
‘Bookies’ Virendra Singh Shah and Balam Singh are the recently caught staff of DDCA who had got the entry pass by paying a lot of money, as per reports.
Passes to the stadium were only made after a signature from the DDCA officials, it added.
As many as 4 people have been arrested in the case till date.
A senior police officer said that Shah and Balam helped bookies to make accreditation cards for Manish Kansal and Krishan Garg, reported Indian Express.

This could be the pan India module of betting in IPL, special cell sources told the website. They added that a betting racket was being operated from inside the Arun Jaitley Stadium in which the two bookies were arrested. The mobile phone location of the bookie suggests that he was betting in LIVE IPL matches inside the stadium many times.
Meanwhile, bookies across the country were placing bets worth crores of rupees through several apps by themselves. Earlier, BCCI had complained to the Anti-Corruption Branch regarding betting IPL matches held in Mumbai and Hyderabad.
The DDCA officials were also questioned by the special cell.
Meanwhile, The IPL 2021 Phase 2 will be staged in the UAE due to Monsoon season. The tournament will be conducted from September 19 to October 15. The BCCI is yet to release the final schedule of the IPL 2021 Phase 2.
There are 31 matches to be played after the tournament was suspended on May 4 due to Covid-19 positive cases in the camps of four of the eight franchises. The cash-rich league was suspended midway, after the completion of 29 matches.
