Rules for IPL Orange Cap

  1. The award is given to the leading run-scorer of the IPL season.
  2. The batsman with the most runs in the tournament during the season would wear the Orange Cap while in the field.
  3. In case of a tie, the batsman with a better strike rate is awarded the Orange Cap.
  4. The Orange Cap owner who is fielding is allowed to wear the Orange Cap till the end of the innings even if an opposition batsman has overtaken his runs.

It was also his five-wicket haul in T20 cricket and first by any bowler against MI. His 5/27 helped RCB restrict MI for 159. With that feat, Harshal Patel took the top spot in the Purple Cap race – but now he has been overtaken by Andre Russell.

Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Andre Russell took a five-wicket haul in just two overs vs Mumbai Indians on Tuesday bowling at the death and is now on the top of IPL 2021 Purple Cap Leaderboard.
