IPL 2021: Virat Kohli sans RCB reach for UAE ahead of Phase 2 – Follow LIVE Updates – Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) players have reached UAE for the second leg of IPL 2021 in the Gulf Country. The updates of RCB’s touchdown in the desert country came from their social media post.

RCB is the latest franchise to depart for UAE as the IPL 2021 Phase is just over two weeks away from kicking off. After the initial season was suspended due to the pandemic, the tournament returns to the gulf nation for the remainder of the season. Virat Kohli led RCB were one of the in-form teams in Phase 1, and will aim to continue their good form when they return to the field.

While most of their stars are involved in international tours or the ongoing CPL T20, the rest of the RCB contingent including the support staff and coaches are heading to UAE before the IPL 2021. A host of domestic stars including opener Devdutt Padikkal, purple cap leader Harshal Patel, pacer Navdeep Saini and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. The players underwent a six-day quarantine in Bangalore before boarding the flight to UAE.

Navdeep Saini shared a picture of him waiting in the lounge area of the Bengaluru airport posing opener Devdutt Padikkal and net bowler Shubhang Hegde. The Indian pacer cheekily captioned it as “back benchers” which was an instant hit on social media.

Earlier, the players underwent a six-day quarantine in Bangalore, with the RCB coaching staff monitoring the fitness levels of the squad. The players were put through some rigorous training drills as they looked to achieve match fitness with the IPL 2021 just weeks away from kicking off in the UAE.

RCB’s strength and conditioning coach Shankar Basu hailed the effort of all the players and said that the way players look after their fitness and the importance of it has evolved over the years. Basu stated that Virat Kohli set the example and others have duly followed, and he has to rather stop them doing training than make them do drills. The franchise will hope that the effort off the field translates to success on the pitch in IPL 2021, especially with the team still searching for their maiden title.
