Parthiv Patel has a unique, and bizarre, record in his IPL career. He has played for six teams in the nine editions of Indian Premier League (IPL), including four teams which are no more a part of the league.

Patel is currently playing for Mumbai Indians, which is one of the IPL teams which have been around since the inaugural year. He has earlier played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Deccan Chargers (DC), Kochi Tuskers, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the past.

But he is not the only player who has played for six teams. While Patel is not in the auction pool, there are some players who are hoping to find a team which wants to cash in on their talent despite having represented several teams in the past.

Former India star Irfan Pathan has enjoyed playing with five teams in the nine editions of IPL. Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderabad, CSK and Rising Pune Supergiants – have all tried to fit his skills into their strategy, each with varying degrees of success. With a minimum price tag of Rs 50 lakh, will another team try him out? As the auction unfolds on Monday, the story will pan out.

Pathan’s former opening bowling partner Ishant Sharma, with a Rs 2 crore auction price, is hoping that his performance with his four earlier teams will count. Hopefully, it can fetch more than the reserve price. His teams – Kolkata Knight Riders, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rising Pune Supergiants – could still want him to be a part of their plans.
