There is over 50% rise in the title sponsorship values for the Indian Premier League teams as Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab have closed their deals early for the IPL Season 11. The franchisees have made official announcements with Kent RO partnering KXIP and Muthoot Finance tying up with CSK. Mumbai Indian is the other IPL combine to have closed a lucrative deal for the team title sponsorship. However, there is no official word on the signing with Samsung, which is all set to replace Videocon d2h on the MI team jersey.

Among others, Daredevils are learnt to be in negotiations with the Jet Airways. The Delhi franchisee, backed by Daikin Airconditioners in a late signing last season, is reportedly expecting the sponsorship values to go up by 50%

Returning to the IPL action after a two-year suspension, the Chennai Super Kings were the first to officially announce the closure of their sponsorship sales for the season. The India Cement-owned franchisee has named Muthoot as the principal sponsor. Parent company India Cement has retained some inventory for own branding, while Equitas small finance bank, Nippon Paint, HIL, Gulf Oil and ACT Fibernet are the other sponsor brands for the season. The franchisee has already put the Muthoot logo on its team creatives of the CSK website. The deal is learnt to have been inked for ₹ 24 crore.

The Punjab Indian Premier League franchisee, irrespective of its fluctuating fortunes in the field, has been the lead performer on the commercial front. The Kings XI had closed its title sponsorship deal with Kent RO as early as in October 2017. As reported by insidesport.co earlier, in spite of an early closure the Preity Zinta co-owned team has secured a premium of over 35-40% over the title sponsorship package last year. The brand has also announced detergent brand Fena as one of the official partners. Several more lucrative deals are on the cards over the next few days. Kent has required the title sponsorship deal for ₹ 11 crore, a 100% gain for the franchisee of the title sponsorship deal last season.

Mumbai Indians are yet to make an announcement. However, Korean brand Samsung will be the most prominent brand on the Rohit Sharma-led team’s jerseys. Samsung will replace Videocon d2h as the principal sponsor of the Mumbai team. The long-term deal, insidesport has reliably learnt, is closed between ₹25-26 crore per annum. This marks the end of Mumbai-Indians five-year association with Videocon. The MI-Samsung deal, even as there is no official announcement yet, is in the range of ₹ 25-26 crore.

Delhi Daredevils in the current season may get financial wings from Jet Airways. Insidesport has learnt from its sources that the airlines is engaged in negotiations for the title sponsorship deal. The franchisee though for now has updated its website with the season 2018 squad’s photo-shopped images in team jersey still displaying Daikin logo on the shirt front. The air-conditioner brand last year was the lead sponsor for Daredevils.



Rajasthan Royals, like CSK making a comeback after serving the two-year suspension, in likelihood will continue its strong bonding with Ultratech Cement. The Kumar Mangalam Birla group-owned cement brand has been RR’s title sponsor for six seasons, out of eight years of its existence in the IPL competition. The brand owner Birlas also have a personal connect with the IPL Rajasthan franchisee. Birla junior, Aryaman has been picked to done Rajasthan Royals’ colours.



Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore, in spite of a strong celebrity quotient off and on the filed respectively, are in the hunt for title sponsors. Smartphone brand Gionee, KKR and RCB title sponsor last season, has decided to stay out of the IPL due to its falling business graph and weak marketing budget allocations. This means, KKR after three seasons will have a new brand logo on the front of the team jersey, while the Bengaluru team for the third successive year will have a new lead sponsor.



In spite of the presence of the likes of Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner, the sponsorship sun for the Hyderabad franchisee has been rising late traditionally. There is no change in the scenario this year, too. Even as Sunrisers’ sales partners are out in the market, there is no significant development towards the closure of the prime sponsorship inventories.
