IRE vs SA: South Africa touch down in Ireland ahead of limited-overs series – South Africa will ramp up their preparations for the T20 World Cup as they take on Ireland in a limited-overs series this month. The Proteas come into the tour after a morale-boosting win over the West Indies and will hope to continue their good form into the series. Ireland meanwhile are looking to bounce back from a crushing 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Netherlands.

South African cricket stars touched down in Ireland on Tuesday as they begin preparations for their limited-overs series against Ireland. The Proteas will square off against Andy Balbirnie’s side for three ODIs and T20Is, starting off this weekend in Dublin. The first three ODIs and first T20I will be played in Dublin and the last two T20Is in Belfast. The squad had arrived safely in Dublin, with the series kicking off on July 11.

Ahead of the touchdown, Cricket South Africa announced that pacer Sisanda Magala has been ruled out of the Ireland tour with an injury to his left ankle. The fast bowler, who made his international debut earlier this year, sustained the injury while preparing for the Ireland tour in Grenada, and his “projected recovery time” is three to four weeks.

South Africa are coming into the tour on the back of an epic 3-2 series win over West Indies and will fancy their chances against Ireland. The hosts meanwhile will be playing their first T20I series since March 2020, following various cancellations due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
