Ahead of the touchdown, Cricket South Africa announced that pacer Sisanda Magala has been ruled out of the Ireland tour with an injury to his left ankle. The fast bowler, who made his international debut earlier this year, sustained the injury while preparing for the Ireland tour in Grenada, and his “projected recovery time” is three to four weeks.
South Africa are coming into the tour on the back of an epic 3-2 series win over West Indies and will fancy their chances against Ireland. The hosts meanwhile will be playing their first T20I series since March 2020, following various cancellations due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
