ISL Karnataka market grows 215% on Bengaluru FC debut -

Riding on home sport for debutants Bengaluru FC, the Indian Super League season 4 has recorded a 215% surge in average impressions in Karnataka compared to Season 3, broadcaster Star India has claimed.

Since the start of the of the season in November, the viewership in Karnataka for football has increased up to 3 times as compared to previous years on the back of Bengaluru FC competing successfully in the Hero ISL and sitting on top of the league table at halfway stage.

Up to week 9, the season 4 has garnered average impressions of 64.6 in thousands in Karnataka for the first 45 matches compared to 20.5 in season 3, as per BARC 2+U+R. The data only includes live matches.

A Star India spokesperson said, “It is thrilling to see how Karnataka has been responding to the Hero Indian Super League season 4 after the entry of home team Bengaluru FC into the league this year. The team has been delivering a striking performance and has emerged as one of the frontrunners this season. There is a growing interest in football in Karnataka and we are confident that Karnataka football fans will continue to show this rousing support for their favourite team for the rest of the league.”

Karnataka has also recorded a cumulative reach of 2.39 crore viewers in season 4 compared to 88.3 lakh.

Bengaluru FC has made its ISL debut in following the expansion of India’s premier football league. The Bengaluru-based club had won the I League on its debut in the 2013-14 season and retained their title a year later. The club is among the league leaders in its first year in the 10-team ISL.

The team, owned by Mumbai-based company JSW Group and its managing director is Sajjan Jindal, has Bengaluru’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium as its home ground.
