Italian Open 2021: Rafael Nadal storms into semifinals, defeats Alexander Zverev in straight sets- Rafael Nadal has entered the semifinals of the Italian Open after avenging his previous loss against Alexander Zverev. The Spanish Tennis Maestro defeated Zverev 6-3, 6-4. Nadal will be featuring in his 12th final of the Italian Open in Rome.

“[I will face] a big chance against a player who has almost an unreturnable serve. [Reilly] is playing well,” Nadal had said. “I need to be very focussed with my serve and then try to be ready to accept [the situation] and be passionate on the return. That is what I am looking for.”

“[I’m] happy. I think I played a very solid match, with not many mistakes, playing the way that I have to,” said Zverev.

“Important victory for me against a great player so happy, semi-finals here in Rome one more time. Confidence for myself and another victory so, against a great player,” he added.

Zverev had beaten Nadal three times consecutively before the quarter-final in Rome.

Alexander Zverev and Rafael Nadal featured in the blockbuster Quarterfinals at the Italian Open as a rematch of last week’s Madrid Open Finals last week. The German players will be looking for a fourth consecutive victory over the nine-time Rome champion.

In another big match coming up, Novak Djokovic will face off Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Italian Open quarterfinals on Friday.
