Jaffna Stallions beat Kandy Tuskers: Jaffna Stallions won the toss and chose to bat first. The opening partnership of WIA Fernando and Minod Bhanuka did not last long as the Stallions were 23-2 in the first 5 overs.
DM de Silva came out and steadied the innings for Jaffna Stallions. He made a massive 61 off just 38 balls but was caught out by Pradeep in the 18th over. TJ Moores and Shoaib Malik did not stay on the pitch for too long as well.
It was the captain Thisara Perera who decided to go hard at the bowlers as soon as he came on the pitch. 50 runs came from the bat of Thisara through boundaries in his innings of 68 off 28 balls.
The Tuskers did not start well in the chase. They were 47 for 3 in the 5th over and their opening batsmen – Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Kusal Perera could not provide the explosiveness they are known for.
Brendon Taylor provided some hope for the Tuskers but he got out on 46 off 32 balls. After that, it was pretty much game over for the Tuskers as they were all out in the 18th over and Jaffna Stallions won by 54 runs.
