SonyLIV has signed three streaming sponsorship deals for the ongoing Australian Open championship.
The first Grand Slam of the year is being streamed live on SonyLive from January 15 to 28.
The Sony Picture Network’s digital platform has roped in Johnnie Walker as the presenting partners. HP and Volkswagen are respectively signed in the powered-by and associate sponsor categories.
The live streaming platform is also streaming exclusive live coverage of an additional court in addition to the regular action of the show courts.
SonyLIV, streaming sports like cricket, football, tennis, WWE, and basketball, has been generating almost 35-40% of its traffic from sports.
“SonyLIV aims to be at the digital forefront of making India a multi-sport loving nation. Digital platforms are transforming the sports viewing experience and changing the dynamics among fans, players, teams, and advertisers. We are proud to present The Australian Open 2018 which kick starts the new Grand Slam season. We at SonyLIV are as excited as our viewers and brand partners to follow every serve of the Grand Slam live,” Sony Pictures Network AVP and head digital business, Uday Sodhi is reported as saying.
“Sports are a big of SonyLIV from our perspective and we will continue to get more and more rights for our viewers,” Sodhi adds. “Between 35 and 40 % of SonyLIV traffic comes from hardcore sports viewers. During the big events this share gets bigger as time spent varies between 25 and 40 minutes.”
Sony Network is currently running South Africa-India series, the Australian T20 Big Bash League, and the Australian Open.
