InsideSport has last week shared the video of Virat Kohli driving his Royal Challengers Bangalore team-mates in an open, left-hand drive vehicle. That’s the video, Karnataka Tourism aims to ride on to drive home guests from across the world. That’s also a first for the India Premier League. Never before a government department – Central or State – has been associated with any IPL brand for its marketing activities.
Karnataka tourism has joined Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Karnataka IPL team, as a sponsor. Some of the team stars associate well with the State for being part of RCB. These international cricketing icons also fit the bill to be the global brand ambassador for the State. The State tourism department has joined hands with RCB to make the most from the opportunity.
Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and Shane Watson will promote Karnataka Tourism. The State tourism department has appointed them as the brand ambassadors. In their new roles, Gayle as a dancer and music lover, de Villiers as a photographer, Watson as a surfer and Kohli driving an open jeep showcase the richness and diversity of Karnataka tourism, reports Bangalore Mirror.
While Gayle danced to the tunes of Dollu Kunitha, de Villiers captured the scenic beauty of Bandipur National Park and Watson showed off his surfing skills on a beach.
This IPL season, Karnataka Tourism is one of the sponsors of RCB. DNA Networks who have the commercial rights of RCB initiated this idea to rope in the cricketers along with tourism minister Priyank Kharge.
The RCB stars shot an ad film to showcase the state’s diverse tourist destinations. In the ad, Kohli is the narrator who highlights various tourist destinations across the State.
