MS Dhoni has always been considered as one of the fittest cricketers in the world cricket despite being 39 years old but on Friday everyone saw a different Dhoni.
“I tried to get as much as time as possible. It is quite dry out here. So, the throat gets dry and you start to cough. When you have legal signs, you can take some time off.”
Was it the heat or is the age catching up with MS Dhoni? CSK lost their third consecutive game despite Dhoni being there in the middle for almost 12 overs . Not only his fitness but his batting also looked out of sync, out of touch.
“I was not able to middle a lot of deliveries. Was trying to hit it too hard. When the wicket is slightly at the slower side, it is better to time it. Looking at outfield it was subconsciously coming to us to hit the ball hard,” Dhoni said after his side’s third defeat in four matches.
“Long time back once we lost three in a row. We need to get a lot of things right. It is the professionalism. We need to take our catches not bowl no-balls. Those are the controllables and may be we are getting too relaxed,” he said.
Dhoni and his team will not have much time to recover as they are scheduled to play KingsXI Punjab on Sunday. Before IPL 2020, it was in IPL 2014 that CSK for the first and the last time lost 3 matches in a row. If they lose another one, they will set an unwanted record of their worst run in IPL history. Can Dhoni’s aging team stop the rot against KXIP ? If not, it will be difficult for CSK to recover from the 4 consecutive loses in the tournament.
