Know your teams

We can segregate the teams at Worlds according to their region. According to the LoL World Championship odds, Top Esports and DAMWON Gaming are massive favorites to win, and that’s reflected by their quarterfinal odds.

G2 and Fanatic – The European Teams

There are 2 European Teams G2 and Fanatic, both G2 and Fnatic have survived the group stage and now find themselves as underdogs moving forward. Fnatic will be pitted against LPL heavyweights TOP Esports, while fellow European side G2 Esports will face a stern challenge of facing one of LCK’s best teams in Gen.G.

Europe has struggled at Worlds against teams from China, but they’ve been able to have success against Korean squads. G2 Esports is also a stronger team than Fnatic with a ton of best of 5 experience and success. They always have some strange team compositions and strategies at their disposal, so at worst, they won’t go down quietly.Fnatic, unfortunately, doesn’t inspire the same amount of confidence. They’re a very strong team but they’re tasked with taking down one of the tournament favorites in Top Esports.

DAMWON and DRX and Gen.G – The Korean Teams

Both Damwon and Drx teams qualified for Worlds 2020 as LCK’s No. 1 and No. 2 seed respectively. Looks like the best League plays in quarters will be seen here. Sount Korea has always been on top of the charts when it comes to League of Legends. DAMWON is currently the frontrunner and favorite to take the title at Worlds. DRX had ups and downs in the group stage. The team looked scrappy and failed to use the advantages obtained in the early game. In some games, it felt as though DRX lacked a basic understanding of how to execute the composition in its hands.

JDG, SN and Top Esports-The Chinese Teams

Unfortunately for the three Chinese teams remaining in the tournament, they’ve all been placed on the same side of the bracket. Instead of a potential China vs. China grand finals, they’ll be fighting each other for one available finals spot. In the quarterfinals, Suning and JD Gaming will duke it out and although they’re two of the top three teams from China, they haven’t played against each other that often. The one time they played in the summer season, JD Gaming won 2-0.

LoL Worlds 2020 prize pool

Riot Games will likely reveal the combined prize pool for Worlds 2020 closer to the finals. They, however, released the share each team will be winning, based on their final placing. The winner will take home the lion’s share of the purse, raking in 25% of the combined prize pool as well getting their hands on the coveted Summoner’s Cup.
