Cricket South Africa is inching closure to make major official announcements about its premier T-20 league. First major, formal announcement is slated for Wednesday, May 31st. CSA has sent an invite to media with hastagT20 printed in big bold letters. The invite further reads, join CSA for THE BIG REVEAL.
West Indian trio Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard and England’s Kevin Pietersen – who have all previously played domestic T20 cricket in South Africa – are among tournament’s eight international marquee players.
However, in spite of tremendous Indian interest to acquire league franchisees, there will be no Indian cricketer. CEO CSA, Haroon Lorgat has confirmed to InsideSport that the “35% of the 150+ interests for the SA franchisee bid document are from India”.
On Indian players’ participation in the SA league, Lorgat has said that “Indian cricket board does not have a policy to allow its players for foreign leagues”. Thus Indian cricketers are not in the scheme of things for the SA League.
The others are New Zealander Brendon McCullum, England pair Eoin Morgan and Jason Roy – and Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga.
