After owning a cricket team in Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), T10 League in UAE now Salman Khan and family will be seen as owner of one of the Lanka Premier League (LPL 2020). According to a report by TOI, Salman and his family will own Kandy Tusker in LPL. The league is slated in Sri Lanka from November 21st and players draft for the same was conducted on Monday this week.
The Kandy Tuskers will be owned by Sohail Khan International LLP. The development to TOI has been confirmed by Sohali. Team has picked stalwarts like Chris Gayle, Liam Plunkett and local Kushal Perera in the squad. Other than this Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz is also part of the Kandy Tuskers squad.
“Given the players we have in our team, the league in general, and the passion of the fans, which are second to none, we see a lot of potential,” Sohail, the youngest of Salim Khan’s three sons, told TOI. The youngest of the three brothers in the Khan family – Arbaaz and Salman being the elder – says “Salman will attend all the Kandy matches”.
LPL 2020 : Organizers yet to officially announce the franchise owners
The LPL organizers along with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is yet to officially announce the five franchise owners. But it has been widely reported that Galle franchise is owned by the owner of Pakistan Super League franchise Quetta Gladiators and some two -three other Indian owners can be seen in the league.
438 cricketers featured in the LPL Player Draft on Monday with Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Faf du Plessis, David Miller, Carlos Brathwaite, Shahid Afridi were among the high-profile foreign players picked by the LPL franchises. LPL 2020 is set to begin on November 21st.
Colombo Kings picked Angelo Mathews, Faf du Plessis and Andre Russell in the Lanka Premier League Player’s Draft on Monday. Mathews is the ‘local icon’ in the team, while du Plessis and Russell are the two overseas icons.
The franchise, which will be coached by Dav Whatmore, also picked two Indian cricketers – Manvinder Bisla and Manpreet Gony – for the tournament.
Among others, Kandy Tuskers picked up Kushal Janith as the ‘local icon’ while Chris Gayle and Liam Plunkett were picked as the two overseas signing. The team will be coached by Hashan Tillakaratne.
Galle Gladiators has Lasith Malinga as the local icon, while Shahid Afridi and Colin Ingram are the two overseas signing. The team will be coached by Moin Khan.
Dashun Shanka is the local icon for Dambulla Hawks, while David Miller and Carlos Brathwaite are the overseas signing. The Hawks team will be coached by Jon Lewis. Jaffna Stallions has Thisara Perera as the Local Icon and Dawid Malan and Wanindu Hasaranga as the overseas signing.

LPL 2020 : When will Lanka Premier League start and all schedule details ?
The Lanka Premier League is scheduled to be played from November 21 to December 13 at two venues — Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy and Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota. Teams will compete in 23 matches over a 15-day period for the title.
