LPL 2021: Shakib Al Hasan and 6 other Bangladesh players to miss part of Lanka Premier League- Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials have confirmed that seven of their players who are part of the Lanka Premier League 2 (LPL 2021) draft will not be available from the start of the tournament due to national duty.
”They (Bangladeshi cricketers) will not be available from the beginning of LPL as we have series against Australia,” BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan confirmed Cricbuzz on Saturday.
”We also have other series lined up but in between, we have some time and they can go at that point and play in the LPL,” he added.
Bangladesh’s all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, Mehidy Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar have registered for the IPL.
The LPL 2021 is scheduled to take place from July 30 to August 22 this year. At the same time, Australia will visit Bangladesh for a five-match T20 series beginning August 2 to 8 at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka.

Bangladesh will also host New Zealand and England after the Australia series as they look to prepare for ICC T20 World Cup in November-December.
Meanwhile, BCB has sent letters to the national contract probables to know about their availability for 2021-22. The Cricket Board is yet to disclose the names of players who will get central contracts. As many as 22 cricketers have received the letter out of which only 18 will get a central contract.
‘‘All the cricketers are ready to take part across format and they have informed national duty is their first preference. They have said that if they are picked and if they can manage to have time to play in LPL they will play there but not at the expense of skipping any national duty,” said Akram Khan was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
