Mukun Caire, the man who played a key role in building up Ten Sports in Pakistan, is the new business head for Dish TV’s sports and exclusive content. He has taken charge from Monday, October 1.
Caire brings to the direct to home (DTH) operator Dish TV a rich experience of sports broadcast and content. Caire as the territory head of Ten Sports for Pakistan has helped the sports broadcast network build up a strong business in the territory. Then part of the Zee broadcast group, Ten Sports has later been acquired by Sony Pictures Network India.
Caire’s strategy and success as the Ten Sports territory head for Pakistan has enabled the network get better valuations as Sony acquired the sports network channels.
Caire moves into Dish TV from ZEEL, where he has held various positions over the past 14 years. His immediate role was ZEEL CEO, Middle East North Africa and Asia Pacific. He also helped launch ZEEL’s OTT platform ZEE5 in Asia Pacific.
In his different roles with ZEEL, Caire has helped the network multiply revenues by 10 times and profitability by 300% to deliver an increase in shareholder value by 306% for Zee.
Caire had joined ZEEL in July 2004 as VIP distribution for Asia Pacific. He also served the organisation as CEO Middle East, Pakistan, and Africa for 11 months till May 2016.
In a career spanning over two decades, Caire has also worked with Kotal Life, Videocon, Amadeus India, and Lara Agro. He has experience in leading multi-functional large teams across sales, marketing, product management, strategy, consumer research, business development, content, digital, radio, media, retail, distribution and brand management.
While at ZEEL, he also strategically led the company’s transformation from a niche player to a global media conglomerate present in 173 countries. He was also responsible for building a 2600 strong retail and distribution network from inception for Videocon Group.
