Manchester City School: Manchester City and British School Jakarta Team Up to Launch First Manchester City Football School in Indonesia

Manchester City School: Wednesday, 30 June 2021 – Manchester City and British School Jakarta (BSJ) have today announced the launch of the first Manchester City Football School in Indonesia.

The Man City School will provide authentic and creative football coaching programmes for students, utilising the coaching philosophy and methodology of Man City. Based within BSJ in the Tangerang district of Jakarta, the Football School will include a Manchester City coaching team utilising the first-class facilities of BSJ, which include both natural and 4G pitches, indoor alternatives and conditioning facilities.

David Butcher, Principal of British School Jakarta, expressed his enthusiasm for the new collaboration with Manchester City to launch the first football school of its kind in the region. “It is with great pride and excitement that we can announce and launch our partnership with Manchester City Football Club and open the first Man City School in Indonesia,” said Butcher. “Our campus has superb sporting facilities and the Manchester City Football School will have a tremendous impact on the learning and development of our students across all age ranges and abilities. This is a great fillip for our community and I have no doubt that this long-term partnership will flourish in the years to come. It is very much a case of paving the way for BSJ as we are totally focussed on being a school for ‘today and tomorrow”.

The Football School’s official opening will take place in September 2021 for BSJ students and will expand to offer programmes for the wider community in 2022.

Programme Highlights
We are the first school in Indonesia and one of the first schools in the world to have this partnership with Man City. The aim is to give our students an amazing opportunity and experience with one of the most recognised football clubs on the planet.

Starting Academic Year 2021-2022, the Man City Playbook will be applied in our students’ Physical Education (PE) / Physical and Health Education (PHE) lessons curriculum and football programmes. Moreover, the BSJ football teams will be coached how to play the Man City way.

We will also have a Man City Football coach as part of BSJ full-time teaching staff with role to:

Teach across the school with our teachers
Coach and train our teachers and coaches
Oversee the Man City Football School
