Media Rights: French Open reports 25% increase in average annual value

The French Tennis Federation (FFT) has revealed that the French Open broadcast rights have increased in value with an improvement in tournament exposure. Following the new domestic rights deals with the France Television and internet giant Amazon, the FFT has announced that the average annual revenue collected for the 2021-2023 three-year period will increase by more than 25% compared to the average over last three years. The Roland-Garros’ broadcasting rights for France, for years 2021, 2022 and 2023, were awarded to France Televisions and Amazon.

The FFT is enthusiastic about the continuation of their historic partnership with the France Televisions Group. The deal will promote unencrypted television broadcasting even more than in previous years, French tennis federation has stated in an article published on the official French Open website rolandgarros.com.

The federation claims to have conceived the Invitation to Tender in an innovative way in order to adapt Roland-Garros’ broadcasting methods to the changes in media consumption and thus reach a new audience.

The French Tennis Federation will also produce tournament’s images based on quality requirements that meet the expectations of the broadcasters for the French market, as well as those of the 151 international broadcasters.

The federation has also expressed its gratitude to production partners Eurosport for having contributed its broadcasting expertise at Roland-Garros in France over the past 27 years, and for continuing this broadcast with talent in Europe.
