The Indore-base batsman was bought for his base price of Rs 20 lakh in the IPL 2021 auction. He will be opening alongside RCB captain Virat Kohli. In the match, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and has opted to bowl first against Mumbai Indians in the opening game of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Rajat Patidar can play a big role in RCB’s quest to maiden IPL trophy. The 27-year-old is coming on the back of an excellent Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021. He scored 219 runs in 5 matches for Madhya Pradesh in the 50-over competition.
Rajat Patidar has played 22 T20s where he has amassed 699 runs at an average of 34+ with the help of six fifties. He also has over 2300 runs and 1,200 runs in First Class and the List A career.
Meanwhile, Devdutt Padikkal has been rested for the opening clash. Mohammad Ahzaruddeen was the favourite to open the innings with Virat Kohli in the IPL 2021 opener in Padikkal’s absence.
