MI vs RR in IPL 2021: With only 4 foreign players at disposal, Rajasthan Royals still committed to defeat Mumbai Indians

MI vs RR in IPL 2021: इन चार विदेशी खिलाड़ियों की बदौलत मुंबई इंडियंस को कड़ी टक्कर देने उतरेगी राजस्थान रॉयल्स की टीम

MI vs RR in IPL 2021: The Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals have lost thrice in the tournament – but with a six-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders in their previous game, will the momentum be with them as they take on Mumbai Indians. The Jaipur-based franchise has a task cut out for them. Unlike other teams, Rajasthan has been seriously hit by injuries and Covid-19. While Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes were ruled out due to injury, Liam Livingston and Andrew Tye withdrew from the competition amid a surge in positive Covid-19 cases in India. Can a depleted Rajasthan, with only four foreign players at their disposal beat Mumbai Indians?

MI vs RR in IPL 2021: How have the four foreign players performed?

Barring the four foreign players, and Samson, RR is a team of inexperienced playing XI. It means Rajasthan’s biggest task is to keep their overseas players — Jos Buttler, Mustafizur Rahman, David Miller and Chris Morris — in top shape throughout the tournament. Rajasthan lack backup for the four players and would be very cautious. Furthermore, they would also hope that the four marquee players in RR’s playing XI support Samson.

In five games, Buttler, Miller and Morris have scored just 225 runs. It will be a concern for Rajasthan as they heavily rely on their overseas quadrate. However, neither of the four have shown consistency so far.

MI vs RR in IPL 2021: How has the rest of the team performed?

– RR are yet to have a settled opening combination. They tried Manan Vohra (42 runs) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (22 runs) at the top but both failed to convert their starts.

– Samson, despite being the highest scorer for the franchise continues to struggle with inconsistency.

– The likes of Shivam Dube, and Riyan Parag, would have to support the top-order by chipping in with much-needed contributions.

– Morris (9 wickets and 48 runs) has blown hot and cold and will again be under pressure to deliver his high price tag.

– Left-arm pacer Chetan Sakariya (7 wickets) has been a revelation.

– The experienced duo of Jaydev Unadkat (4 wickets) and Rahman (4 wickets) have been decent. The three left-arm pacers along with Morris, however, need to be consistent.

– Leg-spinner Rahul Tewatia has got just one wicket from five games, while Shreyas Gopal, another leggie, has gone wicket-less in the two games he has played.

MI vs RR in IPL 2021: No changes in RR Playing XI

Unless someone gets unfit in last minute, Samson is unlikely to change the RR Playing XI from KKR’s match. It means Jaiswal and Buttler will open, while Samson will take the No.3 slot. Miller, Dube, Parag and Tewatia will comprise the middle-order, followed by Morris, Unadkat, Sakariya and Rahman.

RR Playing XI (Probable): Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (c & wk), David Miller, Shivam Dube, Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia, Chris Morris, Jaydev Unadkat, Chetan Sakariya, Mustafizur Rahman
