Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock gave Mumbai Indians a fine start, bringing up a 50-runs stand inside the powerplay. Rohit with 31 off 23 was the highest contributor. His score also included two sixes that he hit to surpass MS Dhoni with the most sixes in IPL. His 217 sixes are the most by an Indian batsman in the tournament.

MI vs SRH IPL 2021 match highlights: However, soon after that, he was dismissed by Vijay Shankar in the 7th over. Shankar dealt another blow by removing Suryakumar Yadav quickly after being hit for a massive six. Two quick wickets turned things around. With the Chennai wicket slowing down, it prevented batters to hit those big shots and SRH bowlers took advantage of that.

In an uncharacteristic manner, Ishan Kishan could only score 12 off 21 balls as he struggled to take the big shots. Kieron Pollard was equally slow. But he accelerated the scoring and a late surge from him helped Mumbai set 151-target for Hyderabad.

Sunrisers Hyderabad were off to a flying start with David Warner and Jonny Bairstow returning as the opening pair. Within the powerplay, they brought up a 50-run stand. However, soon Bairstow departed in a bizarre fashion, hitting the wicket. Manish Pandey also departed cheaply.

MI vs SRH IPL 2021 match highlights: Then on it was the same story that repeated on a slow Chennai track. After the powerplay, batting got difficult once again. But it was two run-outs from Hardik Pandya that turned the match. After dismissing David Warner, the next victim was Abdul Samad as Pandya’s direct hits were spectacular to watch. In the end, Hyderabad were bowled out for 137 as they fell 13 runs short with Trent Boult and Rahul Chahar bagging 3 wickets each.
