Mithali Raj has been enjoying her status as a celebrity ever since the Indian women’s cricket team under her captaincy has made it to the final of the ICC World Cup 2017. She has been the face of women’s cricket in India for nearly a decade now.
Once more coming under the limelight, rather flash lights this time, Mithali has won the inaugural Women of the Year award by fashion magazine, Vogue. Archer Deepika Kumari too finished among the awardees. But there was something more for the Indian women cricket team captain. Like a perfect icing on the cake comes the news of Viacom picking up the rights to film a biopic on her.
Vogue, to celebrate its 10th anniversary, has released three covers for their October 2017 issue. Adorning the cover of the magazine is Mithali Raj. The covers celebrate “Women of the Year and the Men We All Love”.
The Hyderabad girl shares the space with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and newly-crowned International Olympic Committee member Nita Ambani on one of Vogue’s glamorous covers.
Raj looks gorgeous, wearing a black Johanna Ortiz jumpsuit and blown out hair in the cover to the right of SRK.
The covers features celebrities such as Bollywood’s Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Twinkle Khanna, Karan Johar, Padma Lakshmi, Russian model and actress Natalia Vodianova.
Mithali earlier posted a tweet thanking JFW (Just for Women) magazine for featuring her on their cover page. PV Sindhu after arriving from Rio had also featured on the magazine cover.

It seems that the days of corporate and administrative negligence for women’s cricket are over and Mithali is a brand icon now. She has been a pillar of strength. Alongside the PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal and Sania Mirza. This much-awaited spotlight on her is hard earned for Mithali Raj.
