With 329 runs, Ambati Rayudu is leading the list of orange cap probables in the 11th season of IPL. The Chennai Super Kings’ new sensation has proved all the critics wrong after being dumped by Mumbai Indians for a poor season last year (just 95 runs). His salary has dropped from 4 crores last season to nearly half (2.2 crores). This native of Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh, had failed to find a favour from, for whom he has been a regular for eight successive seasons ever since his league debut in 2010.

Rayudu, like a phoenix, has risen from the proverbial ashes of a poor phase of his career in 2018 season. His bespoke performance took-off in CSK’s second match against Royal Challengers, Bangalore, on 25th April when he scored 82. With 332 impact points, Rayudu is ranked 2nd in IPL Impact Rank behind the list topper Kane Williamson leading with 11 Impact points. He is also ranked 3rd IPL Value for Money with ₹66,235 per impact point cost.

Rayudu by far has been the season’s top scorer with 329 runs, keeping Chennai Super Kings among the league leaders.

Following a poor run in the IPL 2017, Rayudu was virtually written off. With a tremendous show over the past three weeks, this Man in Yellow is being talked about for the Blue Jersey of Team India.

The name of 20-year old debutant from Punjab is leading the headlines since the start of IPL 2018 season. Mumbai Indians cannot be happier with their best buy of the 2018 auctions. The young charismatic bowler has taken 10 wickets this season till date with an accumulation of 117 points.

The Patiala native made his T20 debut for Punjab in the 2017–18 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on 14 January 2018. He made his List A debut for Punjab in the 2017–18 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 7 February 2018 in Bengaluru. Markande was bought by Mumbai franchisee for just ₹20 lakhs (at base price). Even though with an Impact Rank of 40 is currently the leader in the IPL Value for Money Rank with ₹17,094 per impact cost. With 10 wickets from seven games, he figures among the top five bowlers for the season so far.

The 27-year-old Kiwi player has made the best impact with his willow this season of IPL. The Sunrisers Hyderabad captain is leading the team from the front to top the standings table in Vivo IPL 2018 with six wins and two losses. With 322 runs, 5 catches and 2 run-outs, the power batsman is leading the IPL impact Rank table ahead of Ambati Rayudu with 343 impact points.

Bought for ₹3 crores this IPL auction, Williamson was handed over the reins of the team from the tainted cricketer David Warner after he was handed a 12-month suspension for his involvement in ball tampering scandal during Australia tour in South Africa. He his currently placed 6th in IPL Value for Money rank with ₹87,463 per impact point cost.

For being the one that remained unsold in three rounds of IPL 2018 auction to the become the player to reckon in the IPL, Chris Gayle aka ‘The Universe Boss’ has attracted maximum eyeballs. The 38-year old West Indies player has aptly justified his statement to Virender Sehwag after his heroics with the willow on April 19 against SRH that Sehwag has saved IPL by “picking me”. He had scored 104 runs in that match and struck 23 sixes in 2018 season.

The Giant Willower tops the tally for the highest number of sixes this season with 23 hits over the fence. Gayle has played only four games. AB de Villiers and Andre Russell too have 23 sixes each to their credit, but from six and 8 matches respectively.

Gayle had failed to find a favour from the Bengaluru IPL franchisee after eight consecutive seasons since 2010. The Caribbean was hired by Kings XI Punjab at his ₹2 crore base price after he went unsold during the auction. With 252 runs and the same number of Impact points, Gayle holds the 13th spot in the IPL Impact ranking. The ‘Destroyer on the crease’ has managed to get 4th spot in IPL value for Money Ranking with ₹79,365 per impact point cost behind Markande, Shreyas Gopal, and Rayudu.

The shortest format of the game, T-20 is tipped to be the batsmen’s paradise – a hell for the bowlers. Batsmen would script and shape the course of the match. New ball bowlers would threaten the batsmen with crude pace and bounce. Spinners would be the poor cousins. But not anymore. It is the spinners who are shaping the games this IPL season. There are five spinners in the top 10 performers with the ball.

However, when it comes to the IMPACT POINTS the list is dominated by the spinners – Sunil Narine, Nitish Rana, Shakib al Hassan, Rashid Khan, Mayank Markande and the Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin being the lead bowlers.
