MSK Prasad hits out at critics, says, ‘Not even once credit was given to selectors’ after India’s historic win over Australia- Former BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad has hit out to the critics saying that none of the members of the current panel got any credit for India’s breathtaking performance in historic Test series win over Australia earlier this year.

Prasad feels none of the selectors were given any credit among current team selectors led by Chetan Sharma. In fact, he pointed out how fans and cricket experts never gave any credit for India’s success and instead took a jibe at them when they flopped.

He gave an example of Farokh Engineer who had claimed to have seen an Indian selector offering a cup of tea to Anushka Sharma during the ICC 2019 World Cup in England and referred to the selection committee as “Mickey Mouse selection committee.”

“When one of our selectors offers a cup of coffee to the Indian team’s captain’s wife, it becomes a big controversy, but when the Indian team with seven Indian superstars missing wins a Test series against Australia in Australia, not even once that credit was given to selectors,” Prasad told Cricket Monthly.

“The team management’s acknowledgement is the satisfaction. Those on the outside, whether they accept it or not, the inner circle knows what we have done,” Prasad added.

India defeated Australia 2-1 to retain the Border Gavaskar series, including the famous win at the Gabba, Brisbane in the final Test. A number of senior players were ruled out during the course of the series due to an injury.

Notably, Prasad was part of the selection committee as Chairman from 2016 to 2020. He, Gagan Khoda, Jatin Paranjp, Sarandeep Singh and Devang Gandhi had joined the committee in 2015 and 2016 and their tenure came to an end in March 2020.
