Four-time Indian Premier Champions Mumbai Indians have become the first team in the league to breach the ₹ 100 crore sponsorship mark.
The milestone is achieved with the recent sponsorship deals with Marriott Bonvoy and Astral Pipes, business daily Economic Times has reported.
InsideSport had reported on Thursday last about the Mumbai Indians-Marriott Bonvoy three-year deal. A Reliance source has reportedly confirmed that the Mukesh Ambani-owned IPL franchisee will get ₹30 crore from the deal.
Marriott Bonvoy, which has been associated with global sporting teams and brands including Manchester United, Formula One, Bayern Munich, NFL and the NBA, will be making its first brand presence in Indian sports with the Mumbai Indians.
Mumbai Indians are tipped to open their IPL title defence against last season’s other finalists Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 29.
