Mumbai Indians Playing XI vs CSK – IPL 2021 Phase 2: Will there be an additional seamer against Chennai Super Kings?

With five seam bowling options, bringing another one onboard seems luxury but it will depend on the pitch at Dubai International Stadium. With T20 World Cup coming up, the pitch is expected to be newly laid and could offer bounce and assist seamers with little for spinners. That would propel MI to have a bowling all-rounder like James Neesham in the side with Hardik Pandya out of form.

  • James Neesham has done well with the ball but his batting form is questionable.
  • All three other seamers — Adam Milne, Marco Jansen and Nathan Coulter-Nile are not known for their batting ability.
  • With Hardik Pandya out of form, Neesham could give them the depth.

IPL 2021 Phase 2: Mumbai Indians Playing XI vs CSK: Will MI play extra spinner?

Krunal Pandya and Rahul Chahar are the two spinners in the side. With plenty of seam bowling options already, Mumbai Indians could go for someone like Jayant Yadav who has excellent batting credentials.

  • Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya will be MI’s spinners but a spin-friendly wicket could force them to take additional spinner.
  • Jayant Yadav having done well in Phase 1 could come in with an excellent batting record.
  • The other option is to go with Piyush Chawla.
