NBA 2020-21: NBA launches new marketing campaign ‘Only Here’ in 10 languages

NBA 2020-21: The National Basketball Association (NBA) has unveiled its “Only Here” marketing campaign to celebrate the upcoming launch of the 2020-21 season.

A reduced 72-game regular season is scheduled to begin on December 22, with only a handful of teams allowing fans in arenas to begin the campaign due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The NBA launched its new 2020-21 season tip-off campaign spot, “Only Here,” starring 2020 NBA Champion and seven-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Inspired by and featuring real fans sharing what is unique and exciting about the NBA this season, “Only Here” includes action-packed game highlights of the thrilling rivalries, spectacular gameplay, drama, and swagger found only here in the NBA, which is unlike anywhere else.

The campaign will feature two spots that will run across TV, digital and social platforms. The spot will air globally in 10 languages, including French, Spanish, Italian, and Serbian, and will be modified to feature locally-relevant players.

The hashtag,  #OnlyHere, launched across all social media and digital platforms last Friday and will be the destination for NBA highlights and content throughout the season.

“Coming out of the restart in Orlando, we saw incredible gameplay, passion, and perseverance and we really wanted to remind our NBA fans that the NBA is unlike anywhere else,” NBA chief fan officer Danielle Lee tells SportBusiness. “Between the rivalries and the returning players like Steph Curry and Kevin Durant, we’ve got the battle of LA with the Lakers and Clippers…and really leaning into the defining characteristics on what makes the NBA unique.

“The other piece was really bringing fans to the forefront. The campaign features real fans speaking in their voice and really telling these storylines on what makes the NBA unique and what makes them love the NBA. Being that fans are core to the NBA experience, we really thought it would be great to highlight them and having them tell their story about their fandom,” she said.
