NBA All Star 2020-21: NBA and Pacers say the NBA All-Star weekend in Indianapolis that was originally scheduled for Feb. 12-14, 2021, will now be held Feb. 16-18, 2024.

Public health conditions limited appropriate planning and executing fan-focused All-Star activities in Indianapolis that were going to happen in February.

The City of Indianapolis will hold the All-Star game in 2024. The NBA All-Star games are going to be held in:

2022: Cleveland

2023: Salt Lake City

2024: Indianapolis

How did Indianapolis win the bid for the 2020-21 NBA All-Star weekend?

Indianapolis won the bid for the 2021 All-Star Game in September 2017 after having Larry Bird deliver its bid in an Indy car. That’s roughly the same amount of time separating Wednesday from the 2024 game.

While we are disappointed that the NBA All-Star Game will not take place in Indianapolis in 2021, we are looking forward to the Pacers and the city hosting the game and surrounding events in 2024,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said in the NBA’s news release about the postponement.

Dianna Boyce, who was named the vice president in charge of all All-Star festivities for Indianapolis in 2019, said executives who pushed for the bid had spent several years prior to 2017 attending All-Star Games in various cities in preparation. They then worked with state and local officials to determine a date.
